Gundog Training At Duckhill we do all we can to make it highly probable that the typical hunter can get from us a puppy with the basic nature and learned skills to make it easy for his owner to shape him into a gundog of excellence. To that end, we continuously evaluate the offspring of our dogs and use that data to guide our selection of matings for our breeding program. Additionally we offer a 2-month duration puppy headstart development program. By standardizing this program we are able to keep the costs low for our customers. The 2-month headstart program runs from age 8 weeks to age 12 weeks and costs $400. In further pursuit of making it easy for you to have an excellent gundog, we offer monthly a one-day training seminar to impart to our customers the latest and best information on training retrievers. We deliver a comprehensive, scientifically based training program to enable you to produce an excellent gundog. The training principles and protocols are based on B. F. Skinner's principles of operant conditioning. We stack the deck as much as possible to enable you to be successful at purchasing and training an excellent gundog.
More Gundog Training We also offer gundog training for those who elect not to do it themselves. Our gundog training program is geared toward a young dog of 7 to 9 months. A young Labrador in this age range without ingrained bad habits should take about 3 to 6 months to turn into a good gundog. He would be steady, delivering to hand and performing simple blind retrieves. We charge $800 per month for this training.
More Information on Gundog Training In addition to train-the-trainer seminars we offer several other resources for training information.
